Speak Now- Taylor Swift

So...I realize I'm giving Tay Tay a lot of crap on my blogs. The sad thing is- there's still at least one more T. Swift song I'm going to tear apart before this is all over. I just have a feeling.
It isn't that I don't like the girl. I have a ton of her music on my iPod...from when I was in high school.
The thing is she's about 23 now and is writing music for 15 year olds. If she would write about adult problems then I'm sure I would like her more.
Anyway- let's get down to business.

I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in
On a white veil occasion.
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl.

I sneak in and see your friends
And her snotty little family
All dressed in pastel.
And she is yelling at a bridesmaid
Somewhere back inside a room
Wearing a gown shaped like a pastry.

Okay...where to begin? Where you state you're rudely barging in and shouldn't be? Or the fact you're essentially stalking these two?
First of all- this screams creeper. Why are you sneaking around, Taylor Swift? I'm fairly certain this is called stalking. I'm also fairly certain it's frowned upon.
Secondly- maybe she's yelling at a bridesmaid because she's stressed and is worried some little twerp is going to come and try to screw her wedding up.
Lastly- Take a look at your first sentence. Rudely barging in is exactly what you're doing..and you're aware you shouldn't be...so, why?

This is
Surely not what you thought it would be
I lose myself in a daydream
Where I stand and say...
Don't say yes
Run away now.
I'll meet you when you're out of the church
At the back door.
Don't wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said speak now.

DON'T DO IT! She clearly has some kind of issue if she's stalking you dude. The most attention you should be giving her at this point is a restraining order.
I foresee your lovely fiance ending up on a Criminal Minds episode because Taylor is getting ready to snatch her.
"She's climbin' in yo windows and snatching yo people up!"

Fond gestures are exchanged
And the organ starts to play
A song that sounds like a death march.
And I am hiding in the curtains

It seems like I was uninvited by your lovely bride to be.

She floats down the aisle like a pageant queen
But I know you wish it was me
You wish it was me, don't you?

I'm going to assume "hiding in the curtains" simply means trying to keep out of sight...but the wording makes her sound like a stalker ninja in my humble opinion. I picture Taylor Swift literally hiding behind curtains..like when kids play hide and go seek, and all you can see is their feet.
You probably didn't get invited by "the lovely bride to be" because you are her future husbands EX...oh! And you're apparently trying to break her wedding up. So I'm thinking this isn't the first time you've tried to do so.
Normally those things don't go over too well when people are in relationships.

I hear the preacher say
"Speak now or forever hold your peace".
There's the silence, there's my last chance
I stand up with shaking hands all eyes on me
Horrified looks from everyone in the room
But I'm only looking at you

Ok, let's take a break right there...this is the point in the service where I would personally tackle her scrawny tail. I mean, really?! Who does that and expects to not be thrown to the ground and punched by an angry bride?

So don't say yes,
Run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
Of the church at the back door.
Don't wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said "speak now"

And the part that says to me the poor girl who got left will be better off in the long run...

And you say let's run away now
I'll meet you when
I'm out of the tux at the back door

Baby, I didn't say my vows
So glad you were around when they said
Speak Now

This entire song just flat out disappoints me. Very rarely do songs seriously make me angry, but this one (as well as Why Don't You Stay by Sugarland) does. That's because it makes it sound like it's totally okay for her to be doing what she is...and it ain't.
Let someone come and do this at my wedding. Someone will be getting cut that day, and probably arrested.
I can see it happening right now...and it's not pretty. At all.
As for the guys who may be reading this- if you're going to run off with the crazy chick who interrupts your wedding, you should probably consider locking yourself in something to the equivalent of an old abandoned house in some foreign land (such as Antarctica?) far, FAR, away from any human contacts. Because your new found relationship probably won't work...and then you should be too ashamed of yourself to date again. Ever.

Phew...told y'all this song made me mad.
I'm busy all the time and barely have time to breathe nowadays. But, alas, there shall be a happy song next time(:

Goodbyes Made You Mine- J.T. Hodges

Why I absolutely LOVE Goodbyes Made You Mine.

I'm not your high school crush,
your first love, your first kiss,
guy that crossed you off his list,
I'm not the red tail lights that left you behind, again and again,
I'm not your Tennessee pre med big man,
promised you a ring and took another girl's hand,
what's it gonna take to make you understand,
I'm not that man,

this is me now,
baby, don't doubt,
the love I can give you,
you gotta know,

I ain’t the same ol’ let you go, run you around,
String you along, do you wrong, like they’ve done you ‘til now,
Girl after all you’ve been through I knew it’d be a matter of time,
‘Til all those goodbyes made you mine
I’ve been your late night call, your shoulder to cry on,
Out on the highway listening to sad songs,
Talk all night ‘bout stupid things, makin’ you smile

I’ve been right here,
All of these years
I am your man,
By now, you ought to know

I ain’t the same ol’ let you go run you around
String you along, do you wrong, like they’ve done you ‘til now
Girl after all you’ve been through I knew it’d be a matter of time
‘Til all those goodbyes made you mine
No more lonely nights starin’ at your cellphone
No more clinging to a love so cold
With me you’ll never have to be alone

So, I couldn't come up with any clever comments for the songs I actually like. I suppose I'll save those for the really crappy ones I find.

It's just so adorable(: I'm not much for cheesy songs at all- in fact they usually make me a little on the sick side. Cynicism at its best!

This one was different though. It's totally relatable for me (and I feel like the general population) because everyone has been through horrible relationships. And if you're a dude reading this...work with me. Just switch all of the "girls" to some male word of your liking because it goes both ways. Guys like to compare girls to their exes just as much, sometimes (from my past experiences) more so than we do.
This song just puts out there that all people aren't the same and you shouldn't treat your new guy/girl like he/she is your ex.

Oh, and that he's totally stoked he's with this chick. Which...is just awesome.

Life is all about risks and it requires you to jump. Don't be a person who has to look back and wonder what they would have or could have had.

PS- I'm having some technical difficulties with the blog stuff. It's driving me crazy, and I don't like it one bit that this one looks different from my last post.
OCD much?
Rest assured though readers- it will be fixed, darnit!

Ours- Taylor Swift

Why I have a problem with Taylor Swift's "Ours" song:
I'm getting ready to break this song down Holly style- so brace yourselves, it might get ugly.

Elevator's silence and morning air
Stranger's silence makes me want to take the stairs
If you were here, we'd laugh about their vacant stares
But right now, my time is theirs.

Alright Taylor, first of all what do you think you're going to encounter on the stairs? Do you and a friend have a rendezvous planned there? If not- all you're going to get is strangers and/or silence.
Secondly, if I was in an elevator and you two love birds randomly started laughing...I would be offended as I would likely think you were laughing at me. Do that, and risk getting punched. Or at least cussed out. Either way- not a fun experience.

Seems like there's always someone who disapproves
They'll judge it like they know about me and you
And the verdict comes from those with nothing else to do
The jury's out, but my choice is you.

GIRL- if someone tells you a dirty little secret about him, you should probably be a little cautious. Now, I don't mean go all CSI on him. But you shouldn't dive into things woman. If someone is telling you something about a person you probably hardly know (because this song sounds like you're in the "I just met him/lovey dovey all the time" stage), it's more than likely best to listen. Make your own decision by all means- but don't just disregard everything.

So don't you worry your pretty little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
And life makes love look hard
The stake's are high, the water's rough, but this love is ours

No, no they do not throw rocks at things that shine. I see the metaphor for jealousy...but still. 99.999 percent of the time, no one is going to throw a rock at a Ferrari because they want it.
Life makes love look hard? Um, no. Love makes life look hard when it really isn't.
"Life's not hard, but it's too long living like a country song"- Miranda Lambert
Wisely said Miranda. What are country songs about most of the time? Someone loses their guy/girl and their dog dies all while everything in the universe is crashing down around them. This series of events usually starts by "the L word" gone wrong. Hence love making life look hard, not vice versa.
"Life's too easy to be so "darn" complicated"- Zac Brown Band
These guys just know what they're talking about. And they don't write a bunch of fluff songs. It's real music.
If things are really THAT bad...it may not be a good idea anyway. Chances are someone who's telling you to hit the highway knows what they're talking about.

You never know what people have up their sleeves
Ghosts from your past gonna jump out at me
Lurking in the shadows with their lip gloss smiles
But I don't care cause right now you're mine

I don't have much to say about this except if he's more worried about girl's from his past- he's not worth it. If he's actually paying a ton of attention to them and disregarding how you feel about it I suggest you get out. You shouldn't have to stress over him just being yours "right now".

And it's not theirs to speculate if it's wrong and
Your hands are rough but they are where mine belong
I'll fight their doubt and give you faith with this song for you
Cause' I love the gap between your teeth
And I love the riddles that you speak
And any snide remarks from my father about your tattoo will be ignored
Cause' my heart is yours.

I admittedly somewhat like this part(: Again, the only issue I have here is that if you have a billion people telling you something is sketchy about this guy- it's probably a wise idea to listen.

To all of my avid readers (that was typed with heavy sarcasm, by the way)- there are exceptions to the rules. If you have a Noah and Allie/ the Notebook type thing going on, then you're allowed to sing this song and not annoy me because Allie's mom was a jerk and was mean to poor Noah for no reason. BUT if you're some 13 year old hormone crazed teenager and you're pissed at your dad for telling you to break up with your 25 year old boyfriend who has tattoos, has been to prison, and looks like a serial killer...take it off your ipod. Now. You should probably listen to the people who are trying to get you away from his crazy self.

Anyway- enough ranting about poor Taylor. I'm sure she had no clue that someone would actually take her song this way, ha. Personally, I just want her to burn some more pictures and and tell some more douche bag guys that "it's too late for you and your white horse to catch me now". Where's the empowering girl songs, Taylor? That's all I want!

Since this is my first post for this new blog, I'm going to throw this out there- I love all sorts of music and listen to it all whether it irks my nerves or not. There are just some lyrics that really get to me.I'm not going to only rant about songs I don't like. It'll more than likely be a bad song, then a good one to mix things up a little. Have a good day all :D
